May Your Holiday be Blessed
The Christmas tree went up in the lobby last week and all the children’s eyes were aglow. From the lobby we can hear the children say things like, “Look mommy, the lights are pretty.” and “Is Santa coming soon?” or “I’ve been a good boy today, will you let Santa know?” We loved this one…”Mommy, why is Santa taking so long to get here?”
The joy of the holiday is truly evident in the faces of the young. They simply see the joy of each day and want only to absorb the many experiences their young lives offer. As we rev up for this special time of year, it is with gratitude that everyone at The Children’s Center sends along our thoughts and thanks to the Lowcountry community. Our amazing staff has continued to educate and inspire young minds because of the generosity of so many of you. Our parents are able to go to work each day because YOU shared your blessings of time, talent, and treasure with us.
Here at The Children’s Center, the Board and Staff remain committed to providing affordable early childhood education for our Island’s future generations. We will be entering our fifty-fifth year of service on Hilton Head next year and look forward to the many children who will come and play each day. We wish everyone a bright and glorious holiday season from our hearts to yours!
Children Thrive Because You Give
The Children’s Center operates from three funding sources:
- Tuition paid by parents (everyone pays something)
- Funds received from the State of South Carolina for qualified family tuition and our USDA food program
- Generous community donations
Since our last update, there has been so much we are grateful for:
- The Beaufort Fund
- Beaufort County Human Services
- Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation
- Breedlove Foundation
- Moss Creek Charitable Fund
- St Andrew by the Sea UMC
- St Francis Thrift Store
- The Church Mouse
Thanks to everyone who helped make both of our new special events successful: Tot Trot and Swing for the Future
If you are still considering your 2021 contributions, remember that for each dollar invested in early childhood education, future returns are between $7.50 to $13. Can’t make that in the stock market!

These are all important contributions to keep our tuition costs affordable and ensure the necessary support for early childhood education for children in our community beginning at 6 weeks of age and continuing through eight years.
Saturday School Will Return!
It’s all about listening! As parents, we expect our child to listen when we speak and at The Children’s Center, we listened when our children spoke. They told us that they needed a safe place on Saturday while their parents were at work. They told us that childcare needed to be available on more than Monday through Friday, and they told us that The Children’s Center was a great place to be!
The 2021 Saturday School reviews were extremely positive. The Saturday School donors were extremely generous and the staff was extremely committed. With all this enthusiastic energy, we are excited to announce that Saturday School at The Children’s Center will return beginning April 16, 2022 and continue each Saturday through September 24, 2022. We will also expand to include children ages 2 through 8 and be open even on holiday weekends. Enrollment will begin February 1st.
There will be an information meeting on January 12, 2022 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at The Children’s Center. Those companies with representatives in attendance will qualify for discounted tuition options for their employees.
