“If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are society’s heroes.”
– Guy Kawasaki
Can you believe Christmas is almost here? We wish each of the board members, donors, teachers, staff, parents, and children that make up The Children’s Center a wonderful holiday season! We are so grateful for you!
Not only has this been a phenomenal month at The Children’s Center, but we want to take a moment to celebrate some of our “wins” from this past year. This year we:
- Successfully completed our second year of Summer Saturdays.
- Raised over $115,000 at our First Annual Celebration Dinner which will fund more outdoor learning opportunities for the kids at The Children’s Center.
- Our graduating Pre-K class mastered 92% of their Kindergarten readiness skills!
These are all huge successes, and we want to take a moment to celebrate YOU. Thank you for giving your time, for donating to various fundraisers, and for attending the Celebration Dinner and/or our Swing for the Future golf tournament. Your generosity has helped us reach these phenomenal goals, and we are enthusiastically looking forward to an impactful 2023!
Thank you to the Palmetto Electric Trust for their generous investment in our future. We are grateful to Missy Santorum for the delivery of this wonderful contribution!
Thank you to Zonta Club of Hilton Head Island for donating Christmas toys to the kids at The Children’s Center! Thank you for spreading the holiday cheer!
Thank you to Mr. Drew, Mrs. Carmina, and all of the teachers and staff who made this year’s Christmas Concert a success! It was so fun to gather to celebrate the holidays with our Children’s Center families and friends. You can view the live video here and check out the photo album on our Facebook page here!
Did you hear we got a personal visit from Santa? Yeah, pretty amazing if you ask us! Thank you to Mr. Allan for bringing some Christmas magic to The Children’s Center this week. Check out our Facebook photos to get more of a glimpse into Santa’s visit!
Is investing in early education REALLY that big a deal?
No doubt about it, investing in high-quality early education for children sets them up for success in adulthood. According to an article from the First Five Years Fund and a Harvard University study, high-quality early education reduces the chances of children being placed in special education programs, helps children remain on track for their grade level, and increases the chance of children graduating high school.
An article from the University of Massachusetts Global adds that children who have access to high-quality early education are more likely to earn higher wages in adulthood. It is easy for us to forget that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. The economic benefits of programs like The Children’s Center are clear, and we are honored to be able to increase the chances of positive outcomes for each of the children we serve.
Staff Spotlight
Allen Hartmann is relatively new here at The Children’s Center, but he’s doing great things in our afterschool program. He’s taken a wild and crazy room and modeled it after a classroom. He allows homework time and structured play for our afterschoolers. When he’s not here with us, he can be found cruising in his Corvette, painting, drawing, or practicing his archery skills. We appreciate you Mr. Allen!
But wait…there’s more!
They say save the best for last, and while this has all been great news, there’s MORE! We have a newly updated website and an entire page of resources for parents of children at all preschool stages! Thank you to Rob Lembo of Triad Design Group for making our website dreams come true!
The Children’s Center will be closed from December 26th, 2022 through January 2nd, 2023. We will return to operating hours on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Do you want to make a difference? We are looking for full-time and part-time employees! E-mail resumes to info@thechildrenscenter.org.
